Young people shouldn't date in order to be popular, go along with the rest of the dating crowd (peer pressure), or to gain some type of security. Older Christians and adults should also keep in mind the principles of dating set forth by the Bible. Here are some important Biblical guidelines for dating (including online Christian dating): The Bible tells us to be very careful about giving our affections, because our heart influences everything else in our life. "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life" (Proverbs 4:23). Guard your heart in a Christian relationship and take your time to get to know the other person fully (especially when communicating online) before giving of your heart. Associate with other people who are good Christians with good character, because we tend to become like the company we keep. "Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character" (1 Corinthians 15:33). As a Christian, be careful when using the word "love" until you are sure that it is what you are actually feeling.
